This is a sculpture which is part of the collection “Hold in the Hand”, rounded and created after having re-read the “Contes du Chat Perché” (The English version translated as The Magic Pictures and The Wonderful Farm) to my two little grand-children. Ideas thus arose from various readings. This little masterpiece by Marcel Aymé shares with us a childish logic where mutual aid “cat - mouse” seems natural, especially to counter harmful parental projects.
Sophie Verger is a fairy who knows how to transform an emotion into an animal, a sensation, a felling in a recollected memory. She also suggests to us with a lot of humor a lovable identification with the animal model and beyond this observation the fact that in all her work, the child alone has its place with her, spontaneously capable of including the existence of the animal in her own fundamental values.
