Hedwige Leroux's "Waiting for a Sign" is an exquisite depiction of poetic stillness and introspection, effortlessly capturing a fleeting yet profound moment of human experience. The sculpture, with its elongated, graceful form, evokes both fragility and quiet resilience, as the young girl steps forward into a soft breeze.
Her flowing green dress, sculpted with a texture reminiscent of tender spring leaves or the wings of a bird, becomes a metaphor for freedom and hope. The wind lifts the fabric delicately, blooming like a flower in motion, as if nature itself responds to her silent yearning. This dress not only adds movement to the composition but also symbolizes the transformative journey she embarks on—light yet grounded.
The dress flows like delicate silk, its translucent white seeming to hover gracefully over the green surface below. It’s truly astonishing how this new foundry has mastered such an exquisite effect, capturing both lightness and texture with remarkable skill. In this sculpture, Hedwige took a bold artistic turn, opting for a light, matte patina instead of her usual glossy, waxed finish. This subtle shift transforms the piece entirely, infusing it with a fresh, ethereal quality.
Provenance
The artist is Belgian, and regularly stays at the North Sea, where the wind blows hard; the memory of a young woman with her hair in the wind inspired this work.

The contemporary woman:
The creations of Hedwige Leroux come from a patient work of the earth, which she models with finesse, in view of the bronze. The artist plays on textures and marks her mark in the clay, giving life to fine and harmonious silhouettes, with an assertive presence. Resolutely contemporary, her bronze sculptures seduce with their elegance and fantasy.
Hedwige Leroux refined and personal style wants to highlight the beauty and personality of women in today's world.
