Representation of female figures is the dominant motif and concept of Wang Jojo's work. These women, depicted in traditional clothing from the East, each have a different look. They fly, come out from clouds, and have fantastic hair that moves freely like winds and waves, making them beautiful, sensual, and feminine. These images are not portraits of actual females, but idealized characters, goddesses of imagination. They are sexual personae of an old story from Asia.

Provenance

Wang Jojo is a contemporary Chinese artist.
She draws her inspiration for her works from ukiyo-e and yamato-e (Japanese traditional painting styles). Her objective is to find the common aesthetic between Japanese painting of the past and Chinese ancient myth. The artist tries to rediscover what she calls the “East Aesthetics”, which is born naturally from within the woman and a free power that connects the inner "her" and nature.
