The line expresses a sense of fastness and slowness, as well as hardness and softness.
It is also a symbol of clarity and a sign of ambiguity.
Color can either broaden or limit the sensory image created by the line.
One of Watanabe's concepts is "representing the moment when incompatible things meet as a beautiful state of painting." “The conflict of different things happens continually in life. Rather than seeing it as a trap or inconsistency, I want to make it the most interactive and active moment for each other to shine,” I use sensory contrasts as motif, and once again create spatial depth. I want to use forms that lie between abstraction and figuration to expand free imagination of viewers.

"I express the artificial and the natural within a single line.I express the 3D in a single line.
Single line defines the space.
I create the movement of space throughout the picture plane and the details of the picture at the same time, so that the picture is filled with everything is needs to be.
In complex layering of colors, i sometimes see the movement that exists in the everyday lives of people and nature.
Lines appear in and are absorbed by the ambiguous and undifferentiated mass of paint.
Some lines are alive, some are not, and i paint so that the lines can live."
