Colorfully glazed ceramics representative of the imperial kilns of various famous dynasties of China, Tsai blends the elegant rhythms of classical porcelain with a bright modern style eloquently and consequently has been dubbed the "master of today's imperial kilns."
This fine porcelain from Tsai is in its gloriously exuberant langyao red which is perfectly reproduced in its pure and vive color, a true joy of eyes.
The unique red glaze of Tsai is dazzling under the sunlight, red like the blood, like the sunset fading to the bisque, and bright like a ruby...
A lighter red gradient appears on the top surface of shoulder gives the vase tension and vitality, like blood that is about to erupt at any time, flowing and boiling.
It is red but not aggressive, thick but not greasy, just right and attractive...
There are also fine white shinning particulars on this vase that as fine as snow.
That interplay of red and white is a delight.
Provenance
Ceramicists in Jingdezhen during the Yuan dynasty (1271 - 1368) produced their underglazed red-glazed ceramics by applying copper to the bisque and a transparent glaze over it to maintain the original appearance and firing it in one go.Expositions

"Exquisitely styled, accurately colored, classically elegant":
That is how master calligrapher Chang Ta-chien described Tsai's work.
Red-glazed porcelain fired at high temperatures poses the highest level of difficulty, this is also a lost ancient receipt with extremely low successful rate at old times. It becomes even harder to achieve on Tsai's shoulder shape at delines sharply on the bottom in such a big size.
