The scribe is the ancient name of the writer. This sculpture depicts a woman serenely seated on large pages that could be scrolls piled on top of each other. She sits on this mass of white sheets and writes a book with a golden quill. What poetry! It is she who has the role of “writing history”. We do not know if she must invent it, if it is her story that she is writing or if it is the story of others that she is immortalizing. Once “the things” are written, they enter a new dimension. They take on more value and become part of a memory to which others will have access. The writer makes a symbolic act when she writes and Baldini represents her with great delicacy. Admiring it, you will certainly feel a lot of sweetness and inspiration. We never tire. These works of the series of "TRACE" of Jean-Pierre Baldini led us to draw a parallel with the work produced in the caves of Lascaux. Surprising, captivating, enigmatic, all of the artist's creativity is refocused in these eight two-faced sculptures where the part of the invisible seems like a game of the unspoken. The primary drawing, simple, carried out with finesse, is transformed into several complex actions where one passes from the 2 dimension to the 3 dimension involving several materials, earth, plaster, bronze, to finally return to the origin. the timelessness of the transmission of knowledge by imprint, giving meaning to our humanity, is revealed by this work.
Provenance
Expositions

Inciser dans le bois,
dans la pierre
ou dans l'airain
des courbes
au destin incertain
tout ce qui est créé
porte aussitôt en soi sa propre description,
relèverait du mythe,
si la lumière n'irisait
à jamais
les caresses du sculpteur.
